Wellbeing Wednesday: Do you overdo things so you then NEED to rest?

post traumatic growth

Sometimes, we might be great at honouring our body’s wisdom, recognising that we’ve been overdoing it (not getting enough sleep, working to hard, ignoring our stress signals) and we can paws in order to bring back some balance.

Other times, even though we might know we’re overdoing things, we tell ourselves we have to push through, keep going. That we’ll rest later.

Sometimes, our bodies lose faith in us keeping that promise and floor us so that we need to take a break and heal, recharge, recuperate and rest.

You might notice:

*aches

*inflammation (conditions like arthritis) being exacerbated

*immune function feeling compromised and coming down with every little bug going

*old injuries and medical conditions flaring up.

With up to 90% of visits to the doctor the result of stress making health conditions worse*, it’s really worth getting to know our bodies and honouring what they need more**

What are your stress signals?

What happens when you pay attention in good time?

What happens when you ignore them?

I’d love to hear from you – you can comment below. And please feel free to share this with anyone you feel might benefit.

Big love,

**Rainbow MagnifiCat is my surrogate for this video because I am writing this in my pjs and dressing gown, recovering from a cold. I almost never get colds but had been pushing through to work too many late nights and early mornings over the past week and weekend (tech emergencies made all of this feel essential). Plus side: I didn’t cancel on any friends and had some lovely catch ups but still, my work is all about self-care and I still thought I could get away with it. It’s just a cold and I’m paying attention now
